Before a bag goes online, we check it by hand. Here you can see what we look at, and what you can check for yourself.

How we check a bag

We go through every bag by hand, in several steps, before it goes online. More than 100 bags have passed through our hands this way. Past sales were also checked independently by Vestiaire Collective, and we show those certificates in full.

What we check

Construction

Stitch density, thread tension, the grain of the leather and how the panels are joined. We compare all of it with bags we know are genuine.

Hardware

Zips, clasps, magnets and engravings. How heavy they are, how cleanly they are finished, how they close. Good hardware is expensive to make, so copies often cut corners here.

Stamps & date codes

We read heat stamps, date codes or chips and factory marks, and check them against what the brand actually produced at the time.

Leather & finish

We look closely at the leather, the edges and the lining, and we smell the bag too. A copy rarely gets all of that right.

What you get with every piece

Authentication ID. A permanent reference number for your bag and its documentation.
Condition grade. A grade and an overall score, broken down into exterior leather, lining, hardware, edges and corners.
Close-ups. Of the date code, the hardware engravings and every sign of wear.
